Ceridian Solutions Improve Restaurant Group’s Human Resource Operations, Productivity

Ceridian’s comprehensive, integrated implementation saves money, frees up IT resources

Minneapolis (June 30, 2009) – Ceridian Corporation, a leading provider of managed human resource, employee benefits administration, tax filing and payroll outsourcing solutions, announced today that Hootwinc, a west coast restaurant franchisee with approximately 20 Hooters restaurants and 1300 employees, is nearing full implementation of Ceridian’s payroll, benefits and tax filing solutions. The complete implementation marks the successful transition from its prior human resource (HR) solutions and is saving Hootwinc considerable time and money.

In early Fall, 2008 Hootwinc decided to review its payroll and HR-related service options, believing its existing applications were implemented in a way that did not provide the restaurant group with all the functionality it needed. In an effort to review other solutions, Hootwinc reached out to a variety of payroll and HR service vendors. The company let all vendors know it would reach a decision by December 31, 2008 and, most importantly, it would need to have its payroll fully implemented by April 1, 2009.

“Ceridian was attractive on many different levels,” notes John Gigliotti, Hootwinc’s director of information technology. “Ceridian was the only vendor to come forward with an adequately staffed project team. And Ceridian was able to leverage its considerable implementation expertise to help us take advantage of the full potential of their solutions.”

John Gigliotti is a strong believer in the power of properly implemented technology solutions. “Ninety percent of implementations do not fail because of software inadequacies,” explains Gigliotti. “Most fail because they are improperly implemented.” What he especially appreciated about Ceridian was the company’s multi-faceted implementation team. “During our implementation we were able to engage with a payroll group, a benefits group and a self-service group. It was a very well managed, extremely well thought out implementation. And at the end of the process we had much more functionality than we had with our previous solutions.”

Hootwinc’s complex data migration was complicated by the numerous locations in which its HR information was stored. Some of its information was stored in the company’s payroll application, while other HR data was stored in two historical databases. “To my surprise Ceridian was able to use its resources to take what was going to be a data migration nightmare for us and move it all into one system.”

Perhaps most importantly, after the Ceridian solutions were properly implemented they provided Hootwinc with a complete, integrated solution. That integration enabled the Hootwinc staff to provide standard reports and perform similar functions in much less time, saving the company money and freeing up staff to pursue more strategic Hootwinc IT efforts.

“With Ceridian solutions,” concludes Gigliotti, “we’re spending a lot less time compiling and hand keying information. It’s all in one overall integrated system.” And that means Hootwinc is able to do more with less, and is gaining the strategic advantage it needs to continue to compete and thrive in today’s marketplace.
