Ceridian Web Forum to Discuss Business Impact of Health Care Policy Reforms

The coming year will see more change in U.S. health policy than at any other time in the past half-century

Minneapolis (April 29, 2009) – Ceridian Corporation, a leading provider of managed human resource, employee benefits administration, tax filing and payroll outsourcing solutions, is sponsoring an educational Web forum May 5, 2009, to help companies cope with the coming challenges of health care reform.

“A consensus on the need for health care reform has emerged among employers, labor unions, health insurance companies, health care providers, consumers and others,” explains Jim O’Connell, Ceridian executive consultant, government relations, and the Web forum’s presenter. “Almost everyone agrees, skyrocketing health costs must be contained and every American should have access to affordable health care.”

Health Care Reform 2009: What to Expect and What It Could Mean to You is the next free presentation in Ceridian’s quarterly Web forum series for HR, benefits and payroll professionals. The forum will be broadcast live at 1 p.m. EST on May 5, 2009. Those interested in attending can pre-register on Ceridian’s Web forum registration page.

Over the coming year Congress and the White House will need to address several critical health care policy issues, including:

* Whether to delay action until the economic recovery is under way
* Whether to impose a mandate on all employers to provide coverage to their employees
* Whether to require all individuals to have health insurance
* How to pay for universal coverage, estimated to cost an additional $1 trillion over ten years
* Whether to create a new Medicare-like “public option” for the uninsured to purchase coverage
* Whether to change the current tax-free treatment of employer-provided coverage
* What to do about consumer-directed health plans like HSAs

While most agree that existing employer-based health insurance is the foundation upon which comprehensive health care reform and universal coverage should be built, landmark health legislation could have major implications for employers, including impacting their compliance obligations. Attend this special Ceridian Web Forum to gain a better understanding of the key issues and how they might affect your organization.
